An Evening of Orthodontics

- 7.30pm – 8.00pm: Guy Deeming: “Adult Orthodontics – Why Bother?” Find out about the latest adult appliances and treatment options and how these developments can benefit your patients and practice.

- Nigel Fox
Nigel qualified at Leeds and after time in oral surgery and 3 years in general practice, he specialised in orthodontics. He was a consultant orthodontist for South Tees Trust from 1996-2009 but now works in a specialist orthodontic practice in Middlesbrough and Seaton Carew. He is an active member of The British Orthodontic Society and was chairman of the British Orthodontic Conference in 2007-2008. - Guy Deeming
Guy qualified at Newcastle with honours and completed a number of SHO posts in Manchester and London, before completing his specialist training in orthodontics at Guy’s and Kingston Hospitals. In addition to working as a specialist orthodontist at Queensway he teaches part time at Newcastle Dental Hospital and has an active role in the Specialist Group Committee of the British Orthodontic Society.

About the course
This training is ideal for those who have already completed the NEBDN Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing but require an update in intravenous and inhalation techniques as well as a refresher on sedation practice.

- Discuss the national guidelines relating to dental sedation
- Discuss medico-legal issues such as consent and confidentiality

About the course
Expanding the clinician's awareness of surgical treatment options for edentulous arches, this advanced course will look at both fixed and removable options including the All-on-4™ concept. Participants will focus on the practical skills necessary to selecting and treating edentulous patients. Building on concepts addressed in level 1 course Surgical Techniques for the Edentulous Arch, this course will also investigate key elements of hard and soft tissue management. Hands-on exercises and demonstrations enable participants to experience surgical solutions more fully.
Please note: This course is designed for clinicians who have extensive experience in implant dentistry.

- Consider surgical and restorative procedures for immediate function.
- Examine treatment options for the edentulous arch in compromised bone situations.
- Evaluate advanced techniques in connective tissue grafting and methods of soft tissue preservation.
- Investigate application of advanced flap design and GBR techniques to assist implant placement into compromised edentulous ridges.
- Assess indications, contraindications and treatment options for the different patient groups.
