Specialist oral surgery team

Mr Matt Dorman BDS (Hons), FDSRCS, FFDRCSI
(Oral Surg), Dip SED

Matt qualified from Newcastle with Honours in 1997. After completing vocational training, he worked for two years as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Newcastle and Middlesbrough General Hospitals. Since then, Matt has worked for nine years at Sunderland Royal Hospital, and is now an Associate Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Matt gained his Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College Of Surgeons (ENG) in 2000. He completed his Diploma in Conscious Sedation in 2002. He then went on to pass his Specialist Fellowship Examination in Oral Surgery in 2003 and registered as a Specialist Oral Surgeon with the GDC in 2005. Matt is an honorary clinical tutor on the Diploma in Conscious Sedation Course at Newcastle University. He has been involved in the teaching of oral surgery to postgraduates in his hospital post and has several publications in peer-reviewed journals in the fields of Oral Surgery and Sedation.

Matt has been involved in providing Specialist Oral Surgery Services at Queensway since 2001.

Dr Kelly Edwards BChD, MFDS RCS Glasg

Joined Queensway Dental Practice in 2008. Kelly is at present working in the Oral & Maxillofacial Department at Newcastle General Hospital.

Dr Julian Hawkings BDS, DGDP, FDS RCPS Glasg

Jules qualified from Liverpool in 1993. Since completing vocational training he has worked in the hospital service in both Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Special Care Dentistry. He gained his DGDP qualification in 1996, and Fellowship in Dental
Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow) in 1998. Jules currently divides his time between Queensway’s Oral Surgery Specialist Clinic in County Durham, and at TeessideHospital Services providing Special Care Dentistry. He has been part of the Queensway team since February 2008.

Dr Rebecca Hierons BDS, FDS RCS Edin

Rebecca qualified from Liverpool in 1993. Rebecca has worked as a Staff Grade in the Oral & Maxillofacial Department at Newcastle General Hospital since 1997. She gained her Fellowship in Dental Surgery from Edinburgh in 1997. In 2006 she became an Associate Specialist at Newcastle where she currently works. Rebecca has worked in general practice since 2003 undertaking oral surgery procedures including implantology. She was a member of the British Association of
Oral Surgeons Council from 2005-2008. She joined the Queensway team in 2008 and currently works part time at Queensway’s Oral Surgery Specialist Clinic in County Durham.

Dr Wendy Keen BDS FDSRCS Eng

Wendy qualified from Liverpool in 1987. After qualifying, she worked in General Dental Practice and at Liverpool Dental Hospital for 6 years. She then went on to work as a Staff Grade in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at James Cook University
Hospital for 16 years. She is working at present at Queensway’s Oral Surgery Specialist Clinic in County Durham, where she joined the team in 2008.
Wendy gained her fellowship in dental surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1993. She has a specialist interest in dental implantology.

Dr Jennifer Korsen BDS FDS RCPS Glasg

Jennifer qualified from Glasgow in 1987. She spent 2 years as an SHO in Middlesbrough before working as a Registrar in Glasgow. Jennifer passed her Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow) in 1991. Jennifer is presently working at Darlington Memorial Hospital, where she holds an Associate Specialist post. She has been a part of the Queensway team since August 2008.

Dr. Undrell Moore LDS RCS Eng, FDS RCS Eng, PhD Ncle

Undrell joined Queensway Dental Practice in 1998. He holds the post of Clinical Lecturer at the School Of Dental Sciences, University Of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
