Queensway Dental kick starts Middlesbrough FC’s oral health agenda

We are celebrating a partnership with a North East football team as part of a prevention programme to ensure all players and staff receive regular dental health screenings.

Queensway Dental composed of Queensway Orthodontist, Skin Clinic and Dental Laboratory has become a gold partner of Middlesbrough FC and will have responsibility of reducing the player’s risk of dental issues over the next 12 months.

The clinic, which employs more than 100 members of staff, was approached by the club’s doctor Dr Bryan English, to promote good oral hygiene across the whole team and staff at Middlesbrough FC.

Representatives of Queensway, Dr Ian Lane and hygienist, Sally Rodgers will be visiting Rockliffe Hall, the club’s training ground on a reg

ular basis to deliver a comprehensive risk assessment and oral health prevention programme.  Queensway staff also attend the club’s family fun days to promote oral hygiene and will continue to support the team through to the season.

Dr Ian Lane, partner at Queensway Dental, said: “I’m proud to be working with a football team here in the North East to improve oral hygiene.  I’m delighted the club is taking a proactive approach to the players’ dental health care, especially as footballers have been reported in a recent study to be at risk from higher levels of tooth decay.

“The club also a strong sense of community responsibility and hopefully we can promote good oral health across the whole club, teens and junior players. The overall health message we hope to deliver is something I think fits very well with the great work that is already being done by the club and its academy.”

Dr Bryan English, said: "I believe that professional footballers require excellent dental health to match their physical fitness - this requires a well-trained dental team in addition to their daily oral hygiene routine as advised by Sally and Dr Ian Lane. Players may be susceptible to short term and long term health problems, illness and injury if dental matters are not addressed and this is why I sought the advice and expertise of the team of top professionals at Queensway."
