Queensway’s bid to boost Billingham foodbank

Queensway has swapped Christmas cards for a foodbank donation worth £600 to ensure people in need enjoy the festive season.

Queensway Dental, composed of Queensway Orthodontist, Skin Clinic and Dental Laboratory made the bumper food donation to Billingham Foodbank in place of sending patient Christmas cards to help families who are struggling to afford the basic necessities this Christmas.

Billingham Foodbank works with The Trussell Trust and is part of a UK-wide network of food banks working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Queensway Dental provided the foodbank with groceries, toiletries and dental supplies including long-life milk, tinned meat and fish, washing powder, toothpastes and toothbrushes which will be used as emergency aid for people in need over the festive season.

Dr. Paul Averley, managing partner at Queensway Dental said, “Every year we like to do something at Christmas time for a local charity and we are proud to support Billingham Foodbank as they offer such a fantastic service.

“I hope the company’s commitment to helping the community will be beneficial to those in need this Christmas.”

Jill Coyle, project manager at Billingham Foodbank, said: “We are delighted Queensway Dental is once again supporting the foodbank as Christmas can be a difficult time for individuals and families who are already managing on extremely tight budgets.

“The increased winter fuel bills, and the pressure of choosing between heating and eating, will sadly push many families into food crisis. However, with the help of local businesses, we can help make a difference.”
