NHS News

For many years Queensway Dental has been at the forefront of advances in dentistry, we have been involved in research in a number of areas such as sedation for anxious patients and primary care dentistry. We have developed a range of specialist and consultant-led services all under one roof, which are nationally renowned for quality and consistency and improved patient care and outcomes. We use only the best materials and follow the most up to date protocols for our procedures. We are proud to have one of the most highly qualified dental teams in the country –a professional and caring team that is highly motivated and experienced. Our on-site dental laboratory has invested in world-class technology to ensure that our patients’ teeth are produced to the highest possible standard.

Understandably these fantastic services come at a cost. For many years we have carried on delivering NHS dental services because we are committed to serving our local community despite the NHS contract actually running at a loss. This situation could not be sustained any longer, and after some lengthy discussions and negotiations with our local NHS team, it had become apparent that it was not possible for the NHS to alter our contact arrangements.

Moving to a private payment system means that we can provide much more bespoke high quality evidenced-based care to our patients without worrying whether or not the NHS will be able to fund particular treatment modalities or not. Now all we have to focus on is "what is the best we can do for this particular patient and their family". Nothing else should come into the decision process, as long as we stand by this ethos of placing patients at the centre of what we do then we are confident that patients will see the value in what we are providing.

To make private dentistry more affordable we have patient plans starting from £8.55 per month (only 29p per day). To continue our agenda for preventative dentistry and to ensure that children are still receiving essential care, we are offering all children under the age of 18 free preventive care when a parent or guardian joins one of our patient plans. Our contract with the NHS will cease on the 31st March 2018. All current patients should have received a letter by Monday 22nd January explaining the alternatives and options of our affordable payment plans. For all NHS patients who have an appointment booked before April it will be business as usual.

Referred NHS patients can still see us for Specialist Oral Surgery at our sites in Billingham, Darlington and Ferryhill and Specialist Orthodontics at Billingham. Our private dental treatments include, as well as routine dentistry, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, anxiety management, braces, periodontics and endodontics. Patients are welcome to get in touch with us direct on 01642 554667 or pop in to see us at any time for advice. We also have a useful Q&A section here.
