Averil’s 2012 New Year resolution was that she was going to seek help for a denture that was drastically affecting her life
She had mentioned to her dentist who had fitted the denture that she wasn’t happy with it but was not given any other options, which made believe there was nothing that could be done.
Then, by chance, Averil read a story in Billingham’s community newspaper about Queensway patient Carole Lane whose smile makeover had changed her life. She cut out the article and kept it as inspiration and a reminder of her New Year resolution.
By May 2012 she had plucked up the courage to make the call to Queensway and was booked in for a cosmetic assessment with Dr Ian Lane.
In her assessment she told Ian she wanted to change everything about her smile. After an examination, Ian gave Averil the news that her teeth could be fixed and the All-on-4™ treatment that Carole had was not the right option for her. Instead it was recommended that Averill could get the smile she wanted through a combination of bridges, crowns and veneers. She agreed with Ian’s treatment plan and began her treatment in June and was well on her way to fulfilling her New Year’s resolution.
Averil was a very nervous patient but was able to manage her anxieties with conscious sedation to help her relax to allow Ian to get to work on transforming her smile.
"Dr Ian lane and his nurse Gemma were marvellous. I never thought that I would be able to go through with so much dental work but I am ever so proud of myself for doing so. I am absolutely thrilled and feel like after so many years I am back to being me. I can't say thank you enough."
To keep her smile looking its best, Averil has now joined our Denplan monthly payment scheme which covers her routine check-ups and also dental insurance.
