How do you enjoy spending your time outside of work?

I love spending time with my family and spend a lot of my weekends either in the woods or on the beach with my son. Keeping myself fit and active are also important to me; I especially enjoy road cycling and HIIT training. I am a big music fan and play the guitar, but I am also planning to learn to play the piano and drums if I can find time! I love to cook and will usually to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday in the kitchen creating something delicious for the family, but often sneakily with the football on in the background.

What makes you smile?

Work wise - knowing that patients are leaving my surgery confident and happy.
Outside of work - Big hugs from my wife and son when I walk through the door after a day at work and walking on the beach.

After completing a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology from Newcastle University, I carried on my studies and completed my BChD in Dental Surgery from Leeds Dental Institute in 2015.

Since qualifying I have worked in both NHS and private general practices and worked within the emergency and out-of-hours NHS dental services in West Yorkshire and the North East. I completed a Dental Core Training (DCT) year in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) at Leeds General Infirmary where I developed an interest in the surgical side of dentistry such as surgical extractions and implant dentistry. During my time in the hospital, I became a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) and the Collage of General Dentistry (MCGDent) from the Royal college of Surgeons of England. I have also worked as a Clinical Teaching Fellow (CTF) in Restorative Dentistry at Leeds Dental Institute teaching the 3rd and 4th year dental students becoming an associate fellow of the higher education academy (AFHEA). Having studied and worked in the UK, I then moved over to Australia and worked for a year and a half in Brisbane. Working in general practice, teaching at the University of Queensland gaining an academic title of associate lecturer in restorative dentistry and volunteering to work with the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS). Moving back to the UK before the COVID pandemic I worked back for a NHS practice in North Yorkshire and became a COVID Vaccinator before moving to Queensway Dental in March 2022.

I have a keen interested in implant dentistry, oral surgery and dental anxiety control completing post-qualification training in dental implantology and conscious IV dental sedation becoming a member of the society for advancement of anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD) and the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI). The team and members of staff. I enjoy the way Queensway works where all are highly trained and everyone has areas of special expertise for which many patients are referred both internally as well as from other practices. All the partners have an interest in ensuring patients receive the best care. This takes the dentists’ expertise to another level and can be very rewarding.

I have coached youth rugby since 2007 and now keep fit running, cycling and playing real tennis and golf.

What makes you smile?

Seeing our children having fun doing what they enjoy. And being greeted by the dog and his wagging tail when I arrive home.
