I enjoy walking, especially with my dog Ted. I also enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?

You would find me in Surgery 13 working with Dr Paul Howlett.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Treating anxious patients and helping them overcome their fear and giving them a good experience at the practice.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

Going on nice holidays and seeing other countries and places. Spending time with family and friends and I enjoy going for walks in the Lakes and walking my dogs.

The most rewarding part of my job is seeing an anxious patient barely able to walk through the door on their first visit leave with a smile on their face. I also enjoy seeing how the practice has developed and grown and the team get better at what we do.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

I try to go on holiday as much as I can. When I’m not working I try to go home to Billingham on a weekend to see my family and friends.

I work in surgery 12 in the main building from Monday-Thursday with Dr Amanda Edge. Every other Friday I work in the crown building with Matt Garnett.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Helping patients overcome their anxieties – it’s lovely knowing you have made them feel at ease and helped them feel better about receiving treatment.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy going for long walks and exploring new places with my dog and catching up with friends and family!

My chocolate Labrador, Buttons. He’s definitely one spoilt puppy!

I was able to do a sedation course which was provided by Queensway and they encourage progression as a nurse. The team are all very supportive and encouraging.

A patient would find me either at the Ferryhill practice working in oral surgery or at the Billingham practice.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is helping to reassure anxious patients that need necessary treatment for their oral health or the implant side of transforming a patient’s smile through implants.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

Outside of work I have my own horse and enjoy completing in dressage. My family are important and I love spending time with them.

A patient would normally find me in Oral Surgery at Ferry Hill 2 days a week & the other 3 days in the crown building with Sally the hygienist.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is reassuring & caring for nervous patients & helping them with their dental treatment.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

I love spending time with my husband & 2 daughters. We enjoy walks with our daft Cockapoo – Rufus. Trying to keep fit cycling on my mountain bike and I love going to see live music.

At Queensway the whole team has welcomed me with open arms, I now finally feel happy coming to work always welcomed by these wonderful people and I am so proud to be a part of this amazing team!

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?

You would usually find me working in surgery 3 with Dr Piotr Sztencel or in the PDU delivering Oral Health Education. If you can’t find me in any of these places it will be dinner time and I may be wandering around Billingham town in search for food.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is being around our patients helping them, to be able to reassure them and assist them throughout making them feel happy every visit. In oral health I aim to educate patients as much as possible, giving them the best advice I can give, helping them improve in areas they may need help with and support throughout. It is very rewarding for me to see improvements with patient’s oral health and for them to take my advice on board I really feel like I am making a difference.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

Out of work I love spending time with my friends and family, going out for food is the best!! I do love food but who doesn’t right?

What makes you smile?

The first thing that makes me smile is my gorgeous nephew. I love spending time with the little chunk when I can, he is already taking after his Auntie Zo the chunky monkey! I also have three gorgeous dogs who make me smile. The oldest Buster my little tank of a Jack Russell, second my gorgeous gentle giant Keo the softest staffy you will ever meet and lastly loopy Luna who is the baby of the bunch and she is erm… just mad but a beautiful princess who actually thinks she is a baby. I love them all!

The most rewarding part of my job is working amongst amazing people every day and being part of the most fantastic dental team, creating beautiful smiles every day and watching a person’s confidence grow. For some people it’s a life changing journey which makes me feel extremely proud to be a part of.

Spending time with my family, family holidays, horse riding and taking Ruby our Border Collie for long walks in the country side.

I enjoy working at Queensway dental clinic because we have such an amazing team, we all work together and get on really well. I absolutely love it! It’s such a brilliant practice with lovely patients and amazing staff. I could never see myself working anywhere else. Queensway is very professional and nurses have a lot more responsibility and get a lot of support and reassurance. I felt like part of the team on my first day - everyone was so nice and welcoming. I love my Queensway family =)

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding thing about my job is I love spending time around people, reassurance is key in a sedation practice. It is rewarding to see the progression with children with anxiety and management with the dental therapists. It’s lovely seeing a patient smile and not be so anxious about dental treatment.

Throughout her years of employment, she was able to complete a post qualification in Dental Sedation. She left the Dental Hospital in 2005 and worked as an Orthodontic nurse and a general nurse until 2009 when she started working at Queensway Dental. Since starting at Queensway, she has qualified in Dental Radiography. Her main role was dental nursing until recently she took on the role of supervisor to Queensway’s Patient Support Advisors and supporting the HR team.

I will have worked for Queensway for 10 years this coming August 2019

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway Orthodontics?

The thing I love most about working for Queensway is its diversity and dedication to ensuring patients are dealt with in the best possible way. I am proud to work as part of a team that are highly qualified, including the nurses and reception.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?

Currently patients will find me in the oral surgery clinics in Ferryhill, Billingham and occasionally Darlington. I can also be found on the reception desk in our main building at Billingham or in the Patient Support Hub.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is when a patient leaves the practice happy and we get a thank you.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

My time outside of work is spent mainly with my 8 year-old twins. We enjoy short bike rides and exploring the countryside or going to the beach. We enjoy going to the cinema or film night at home and like travelling to different parts of the country (but our most favourite part is going up to Scotland).

What makes you smile?

Firstly, my children make me smile when they are not fighting with each other. My colleagues make me smile and are always there to support me when needed. Patients make me smile when they are happy with their visit to Queensway Dental.

I enjoy doing Oral Surgery and working within a small dedicated team at Darlington. I enjoy making a patients experience positive and successful! I also enjoy learning Oral Surgery things from the surgeons while doing treatments as I love learning and gaining knowledge!

In the Surgery helping the Surgeon

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Seeing a patient who is extremely nervous achieve having their treatment done and feeling proud that they have managed. Getting thanked for my help during the treatment by the patient is also very rewarding.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

Spending quality time with family & friends, training at the gym, weekend trips with friends, I am very interested in True Crime and Forensics. I also love music, reading, animals, cooking and movies.

I enjoy all aspects of my job and I find it very rewarding. I enjoy supporting the nursing team in their job role and helping Colette with post qualifications for nursing staff. I have also recently completed an award in Teaching and Education.

I am located in the management office or in one of the surgeries.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I find everything in my job rewarding, but getting the job done is my main priority.

Queensway have supported me throughout my professional development over the past 14 years and I could not be more grateful for this. Queensway also provide excellent quality with first class care for our patients putting their needs first ensuring they are a priority. Overall I am extremely proud to be a part of the Queensway Team.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?

I am a longstanding member of our oral surgery team, a patient would find me here working a long side our fantastic oral surgeons; Matt Dorman and Julian Hawkings. Working in the oral surgery department I deal with patients on a day to day basis helping overcome their dental anxieties using various anxiety management techniques and constant reassurance. I love the feeling afterwards knowing I have helped a patient relieving their anxieties and any pain they may have sustained to prior treatment.

What do you enjoy outside of work

I love spending quality time with my family; walking the dog, day trips out or even quiet days at home… As long as it’s as a family I am happy!

Tell us about your career history

Emma gained her degree in Industrial Design but wanted a career change that had more suitable hours to accommodate her young family. She completed her dental nursing qualification after two years via day release in 2018 whilst working full time as a trainee dental nurse. Once qualified she worked as lead nurse and stock manager in an NHS and private practice. She joined Queensway in May 2019.

What do you enjoy most about working at Queensway?

I love being more involved with a patient’s smile journey - the patient interaction is above and beyond. Whether it be a friendly conversation over the phone to a patient selfie, every day is so rewarding.

Where would a patient find you?

A patient will find me either in surgery on the orthodontic or dental department, scanning/ taking photographs in the nurse led clinic or taking a patient selfie in our new selfie corner.

Most rewarding part of your job?

Seeing patient’s smiles and confidence being completely transformed.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

Going on family day outings mainly to national trust sites with my husband, son and daughter. Cuddling our Guinea pigs which the children named Sandy and Princess Glitter Fairy Garden.

What makes you smile?

Hearing my children laugh/ giggle. Seeing people happy and spending time with my friends and family.

How long have you worked at Queensway?

I have been at Queensway since July 2018.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway Orthodontics?

I love seeing people happy and feeling good about themselves. Especially when an anxious patient comes to the practice but because of the service we offer they feel relaxed enough to get treatment.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?

I work with Dr Paul Davies in surgery 7 in the main building three days a week and then I spend two days working with dental hygienist, Sally Rodgers in the crown building.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is seeing people who don’t think they can have nice teeth and being able to make it happen.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

I enjoy helping to give people a smile makeover - for people to then look at the end result and smile.

What makes you smile?

Being with my family and friends making memories and have a good time.

I came into Queensway in December 2016 and have now been here 11 months.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?

I do work with therapists/ dentists if needed, but more often than not I can be found in the oral surgery clinic.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Knowing I have helped a patient by getting them out of pain and delivered a caring, professional service at the same time.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

I enjoy visiting places, exercising, catching up with friends and spending time with my boyfriend and family. Quite partial to a holiday too! ☺

Being happy, having a healthy balance in life work and recreational activities.

In our Crown building alongside Dr Uzma Olbrich carrying out private dentistry and facial aesthetics which I really enjoy.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Completing treatments (complex or simple) and seeing patients happy and smiling at the end is very rewarding.

Midweek gym classes and spending time with friends and family.

Toni started nursing in 2001 and has worked in a range of practices including a prison. Toni joined Queensway in 2017 and in this time has worked alongside implant dentists, periodontal and restorative specialists and endodontics. She has undertaken courses in these fields and recently passed a course in sedation.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway?

My friendly colleagues, training opportunities and working incentives.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?

I currently work full time in the oral surgery department and every other Friday alongside Mr Matt Garnett who is a gum, restorative and periodontal specialist.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Working in the oral surgery sedation service and seeing patients being put at ease for the procedure they think may be difficult but ends up being uncomplicated. This makes the patient feel 100% better as they are having teeth removed in a very controlled and relaxing way and I find this very rewarding.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

I love spending time with my family, friends, and enjoying long walks with my staffie, Rocco.

What makes you smile?

Activities with family and friends, meals out and keeping fit. I also have a small hobby in photography which I enjoy.

Emily began training as a Dental Nurse in September 2012 and qualified in March 2014 with a City and Guilds Diploma in Dental Nursing Level 3. Throughout her dental career she has worked in various roles such as Dental Nurse, Practice Support Manager and Practice Manager at previous practices. However, Emily believes the clinical based role is more suited to her as she loves working as a Dental Nurse. She is currently working towards a NEBDN qualification in Dental Sedation Nursing.

How long have you worked at Queensway

I started working at Queensway in November 2019. Although I was a previous patient here which originally made me want to become a Dental Nurse!

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway?

I enjoy all aspects of my job but I what I enjoy most is working alongside a professional and highly skilled team which has allowed me to expand my clinical knowledge and experience. There are so many opportunities at Queensway and I look forward to continuing my professional development here.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?

You will usually find me in surgery working with Dr Averley and alongside the other partners in the Crown building or in oral surgery.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is being able to play such an important part in our patient’s journeys at Queensway. I love seeing smile transformations and how life changing it can be to some patients - it feels very rewarding to know that we have been able to make that difference.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

Outside of work I enjoy visiting new destinations, shopping, eating and drinking out and going to the gym regularly. If I’m not busy doing any of these then I will be watching something on Netflix.
