Vicky Philipson

Vicky Philipson

Business Development Manager

I followed my childhood dream and qualified as a Paediatric staff nurse at Teeside University in 1998. Following 10 years of working within the Paediatric setting of Neurology and Bone Marrow transplants, I decided to have a change in career and found myself in the world of medical devices working with the Critical care and Theatre teams.

In 2009 I was given an opportunity to work within the dental sector and that is where my career with Nobel Biocare and dental implants started. Throughout the huge learning journey of Dentistry, I have been awarded ‘Territory Manager of the Year’ 3 times and was also awarded an ‘Outstanding Achievement award’ in 2013.

While a large proportion of my role with Nobel Biocare was to support and develop clinicians with their implant side of the business, I have also enjoyed the continuation of education and have been involved in setting up and running courses for both dentists and dental nurses. I have also pioneered and set the standard for running quarterly regional study clubs across the UK and Ireland.

I am now delighted to be part of the Queensway Dental team and look forward to being a point of contact for our referring GDP’s and working in different areas across the business in both Billingham and Jesmond.

Mégan Waggott

Mégan Waggott

Communications Assistant

BA (Hons) Journalism

Following a degree in journalism, Mégan has worked in the PR and communications industry for eight years and has both managed and supported a number of successful results-driven PR campaigns for a broad range of clients including Berghaus, Sunderland City Council, Redcar & Cleveland College and Age UK North Tyneside. She learned a lot during her time in an agency but has always wanted to work in-house for an organisation such as Queensway. She joined the team in December 2016.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway?

The people I work with – there’s so many different personalities but there’s a real sense of team spirit and everybody is really friendly. I also enjoy the variety in my role as no two days are the same.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?

In the communications office I share with marketing assistant, Jo but my role can mean I’m hopping from one building to the next to interview patients or take a photo for our social media pages – I’ll be the one behind the camera or with a note pad and pen in my hand!

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

A big part of my job is contacting patients at the end of their treatment to see if they would be happy to provide a testimonial and it’s always great to speak to patients who are really pleased with their new smile. I also get a buzz whenever Queensway news has been picked up in the press.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

Weekends are for spending time with my partner, taking our little girl, Matilda to the park or swimming and visiting family. In my spare time I also run my own online illustration business, Lavender Lane which can keep me busy, especially during wedding season or over the Christmas period.

What makes you smile?

My daughter makes me smile every day and the fact she will be a big sister this summer!

Communications Assistant

BA (Hons) Law

After completing a Law degree at Teesside University, Jo went on to work for a HVAC-R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration) company for six years taking on numerous job roles including admin, sales, accounts, and purchasing. As the company grew Jo was tasked with developing the company’s digital marketing and subsequently completed a marketing degree at NESMA. Realising that marketing was her passion, Jo joined the Queensway team in January 2017 where she would be able to work with a much wider target audience.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway?

I enjoy working alongside such a great team and that every week is different.

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?

My office is in the Dental Clinic building upstairs in the marketing office where I work alongside my partner in crime Mégan – also a marketing and communications assistant. However, this job means I’m rarely at my desk – you are more likely to find me in one of our Billingham locations taking photos and videos of staff and patients for our website or social media pages.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is talking to patients after they have had treatment about how much it has changed their lives for the better.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

I enjoy running and walking Roseberry topping more so when my little Yorkshire terrier joins me.

What makes you smile?

My dog, friends and family – and a nice hot cup of tea. :-)
