Dental lab manager makes his own teeth!

The Dental Laboratory Manager at Queensway Dental Clinic has had a taste of his own handiwork and expertise, after creating his own replacement porcelain inlays – used as an alternative to a conventional filling – in the dental laboratory.

After discovering his upper and lower porcelain inlays – installed at another dental practice – were failing, Richard Elliott, the dental clinic’s Dental Laboratory Manager, made his own replacements in the lab using the latest technology.

Each process in the creation of the porcelain inlays, which is overseen by hand, ensures precision of the product and increased comfort for the wearer. The product is overseen by three technicians – including Richard – with each being tailor made to the patient’s requirements.

Richard commented: “It was peculiar putting myself into the patient’s shoes and going through their experiences at Queensway. From seeing a dentist at the clinic through to receiving their replacement products everyone receives the highest possible standards of care and service. I’m lucky to have been able to create my own porcelain inlays – not many people can say they have made their own teeth! But I pay as much attention and care to every product I work on regardless of whom it’s for.

“Working in the laboratory is great, and we’re lucky to be working with some revolutionary equipment. For patients, having a dental laboratory on site at Queensway Dental Clinic provides a huge benefit as tweaks and amendments can be made easily and at their convenience, rather than the product being sent to a laboratory off-site which lengthens the process considerably.”

Richard works in Queensway’s Dental Laboratory, a state of the art, full service private laboratory, which uses the latest equipment and techniques to achieve the high standards which patients have come to expect from the dental clinic. Richard has over 15 years experience and oversees the nine members of staff employed in the dental laboratory.
