National Smile Month Summary!
Jul 2, 2014

We have been extra busy this National Smile Month with plenty going on to support the campaign. Ran annually, National Smile Month is the longest running oral health campaign in the UK.
The aim of National Smile Month is to promote 3 key oral health messages:
- Brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste
- Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks
- Visit your dentist regularly, as often as they recommend.
Along with raising oral health awareness in the practice, we launched our Tooth Trooper’s project, with the aim of educating children in the region about the benefits of good oral health. Our very own Tooth Troopers, Tilly and Toby with join us in visiting schools to speak to the children and engage them in activities which will help to improve their oral health awareness. Our school visits begin next week, where we will be visiting Red House School in Norton. We will then be visiting Middlesbrough FC Foundation and St Johns School in Billingham to deliver our Tooth Trooper message.
Team Queensway also took part in the Billingham Community games, and won! The games, which see local teams from the area compete in a series of challenges in the style of ‘It’s A Knock Out’, are ran annually to raise funds for the Billingham Legacy Foundation. We had a great day out, and took our ‘National Smile Month’ smilies along to help spread awareness of the campaign (and for a winners photo, of course!).
We are now looking forward to our practice open evening which is taking place on Tuesday 15th July.
