Queensway Dental agrees new deal with Billingham Town Centre

Queensway Dental has agreed a deal with St. Modwen, the expert developer and regeneration specialist, to take additional space and confirm their commitment to Billingham Town Centre.

Located at the Crown Buildings on Queensway, the dental practice is expanding its premises and has taken two new leases for 11 years and an extra 2,300 sq ft. As well as renewing their existing agreements to 2030.

The nationally renowned dental clinic, which recently celebrated its 25th year in the town centre, offers dental care, complex restorative dentistry, implants, aesthetic and cosmetic services as well as anxiety management, specialist orthodontics and specialist oral surgery.

The recent expansion is to accommodate a state-of-the-art dental implant suite, refurbished staff facilities and dining space and a dedicated stock room.

The clinic, which has been shortlisted as a finalist for Company of the Year at the upcoming North East Business Awards, attracts patients from across the UK and overseas, which is an accolade to the reputation the practice has built through its people, technology and ethos.

The news comes after a planning application was approved by Stockton Borough Council on 15 November 2018 to expand into the former Post Office.

Andrew Day, Asset Manager at St. Modwen, said: “We’re pleased that Queensway Dental has confirmed its ongoing commitment to Billingham Town Centre and expanded its current premises.

“We have supported a successful local business in it expansion plans by negotiating a new lease agreement on their existing premises and in the vacant unit next door. This has enabled the popular dental practice to increase in size, improve accessibility and bring more people into Billingham Town Centre. We hope Queensway Dental will continue to thrive for many years to come.“

Dr Ian Lane, partner at Queensway Dental, said: “We are delighted to announce we have secured plans to expand our practice in the heart of Billingham and we look forward to growing the business to benefit our employees and the local community. I have been a dentist in Billingham for over 20 years now and Im very proud to be part of this ongoing development in the town centre.

“We already have a large patient base in the region and the new premise gives us a great opportunity to build on that.  The extension and refurbishment will significantly enhance and upgrade the facilities at Queensway Dental, and will create further employment opportunities and more ground floor accessibility for our patients. In addition to this development, Queensway Dental Laboratory is also growing to meet internal and external demand and now employs 20 members of staff – in addition to the 110 staff that already work in our organisation. Dental technology is an integral part of modern dentistry and we are very proud of the work our technical colleagues deliver on our behalf.

It is estimated that the expansion will bring an additional 10,000 people a year into the town centre while creating an additional 10-15 jobs.

Andrew Wilkinson, Director at Connect Property North-East (CPNE), added: “Billingham Town Centre continues to evolve and the expansion of Queensway Dental, being a non-retail use within the traditional retail centre, is very important to its future sustainability and vitality.

“Town Centres must evolve to not only embrace relevant retail, but also to maintain and grow non-retail uses to provide the full complement of needs within the community. Billingham is a leading example of a town centre adapting and growing by allowing new opportunities for national, regional and local businesses to prosper.”

Over the last two years Billingham has welcomed a number of big brands and household names, including Subway, Aldi, Costa Coffee as well as continuing to support a number of thriving independent retailers and eateries.

CPNE and Colliers CRE are joint letting agent for St Modwen.
