Smile update | March 2021

Hello and happy Friday!

As the mornings become brighter and the nights become a little longer, we look forward to what the summer will bring this year.

At Queensway Dental we are continuing to follow guidelines, remain open with our extended opening times and do what we love to do which is to safeguard your oral health and support you to maintain excellent levels of oral hygiene, so that when we can remove our masks you have the confidence to give your biggest smile possible – something we have all been missing over the last 12 months.

The safety of our patients and staff remains paramount and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for continued cooperation with the policies and protocols we have put in place to allow this.

We hope you enjoy this month’s newsletter. Please remember our team here are always at hand to answer any questions you may have.

We look forward to seeing you soon, in the meantime, take care and stay safe.

Unhappy with a bridge from a previous dentist, Zoey booked a free video consultation to speak to a dental professional at Queensway.

Following a replacement bridge, crown, implant and tooth whitening (now that’s what we call the full works!) Zoey said she finally has her confidence back and is so happy!

Check out her amazing smile transformation below…

We were delighted to help our lovely patient, Scarlett smile again following the completion of her treatment last week.

Scarlett took to her Instagram and TikTok pages to show off her new teeth and hit back at school bullies – as she admitted: “I finally feel like I can smile.”

The former Gogglebox star, 30, shared a photo montage of her old and new teeth as she explained why she underwent treatment, which included crowns and PMMA veneers.

Following a bike accident as a child, Scarlett suffered from dental trauma but had to wait until she was 18 to be fitted with veneers at her family dentist. Overtime, Scarlett had been left with a gap in her two front teeth. From school to now, bullies have mocked her for it however, the star says she is now overjoyed with her new teeth.

Queensway is celebrating after once again being awarded the Silver Better Health at Work award.

Queensway have been awarded Silver after passing the assessment process which focuses on identifying health issues staff would like to focus on improving and then running subsequent health campaigns to address the most requested.

Initiatives introduced by the practice include offering employees free Latin dance classes, a personal branded water bottle to ensure employees are kept hydrated throughout the day, mental health and wellbeing checks and activities throughout the furlough period and various charity raffles.

The clinic offers employees easy and healthy lunchtime recipe ideas following the creation of a ‘Queensway Recipe Book’ and its regularly updated ‘information stations’ in staff rooms provide resources for employees that focus on different topics each month such as Stoptober, mouth cancer awareness and Dry January.

The selected health advocates have completed a mental health first aid awareness course which give them skills to recognises signs and techniques to share with colleagues if needed.

Colette Meek, HR manager and Queensway’s health advocate said: “We are delighted to have maintained our silver Better Health at Work award. We have over 120 members of staff at Queensway Dental and it’s my role to support each colleague to make healthy choices and ultimately improve their wellbeing which we are committed to do.

“The pandemic has caused a strained on many people’s mental health and we think it’s important as a business to acknowledge that stress in the workplace and we hope by driving awareness of these issues as well as having the correct measures in place to combat them will ensure we have a happy and healthy team. We have lots of activities in the pipeline for 2021 and our ultimate goal is to work our way up each level of the award.”

The North East Better Health at Work Awards is a partnership between 12 Local Authorities in the region, the Northern TUC and the NHS. It is open to all employees from small to large enterprises and has four levels including Bronze, Silver, Gold and Continuing Excellence.

It’s 21st June, you’ve got your new Queensway Smile and you’re about to watch your daughter walk down the aisle.

ARE YOU READY?

We are delighted to have joined forces with the Teesside Family Foundation as part of our annual charity pledge to support families in the region.

The charity’s aim is to improve the quality of life to all of those in need in our community throughout Teesside, whether due to age, disability, ill health or financial hardship.

The charity trustees carry out the commitment to supporting people in our area through the provision of, but not limited to, such items as furniture, clothing, food and toys together with payment for services such as educational, recreational outings, entertainment and accommodation.

Throughout the year, we hope to be able to share some humbling stories with you of how we have helped local people benefit from this amazing charity.
