Smiles around Teeside as Dentists Excel

Queensway Dental Clinic is celebrating after being recognised for its customer relations and high clinical standards with the prestigious Denplan Excel Accreditation.

Developed by Denplan – the UK’s leading dental payment plan specialist – the programme was the first to be approved by the Patients Association and helps dentists to develop better relationships with their patients through good communication and quality care.

Dr Paul Averley, commented: “This is a fantastic achievement and we’re looking forward to sharing the benefits with our patients. It is external confirmation and recognition that Queensway Dental Clinic has met the high standard set by the accreditation scheme to provide first class dental services to our patients. The whole team has worked very hard to become part of this elite group of accredited practices, and I know it will spur our team on to develop further dental services at Queensway that will continue to improve our patients’ experience of going to the dentist.”

As part of the Excel accreditation process, practices undergo rigorous inspection to ensure they exceed standards of clinical governance, statutory requirements and industry best practice recommendations.

This provides a visible sign of commitment to quality care and reassurance to patients that they’re being treated in the most comfortable, hygienic and safe environment. The scheme also ensures the whole team provides patients with clear information regarding their treatment at all times, and that patients are fully involved in making decisions about the future care of their teeth and gums. Patients are encouraged to take a more active approach to managing their oral health, with the emphasis on prevention and maintenance of oral wellbeing.

Paul said: “Studies have shown that patients are less anxious when their dentist is able to explain treatments clearly and involve the patient in making decisions about the future care of their teeth and gums. Excel gives us the tools to do this with the Oral Health Score which helps our patients to easily understand their dental health status and whether it is improving, stable, or needing extra attention. Together, we can then choose the most suitable treatment options for the patient, which we believe is an important part of an effective and lasting dentist-patient relationship.”
