BILLINGHAM PRACTICE

Dr Amanda Edge

Amanda graduated in 2000 from Manchester University, and moved to Newcastle for the GPT programme at Newcastle Dental Hospital. During this time she completed her MFDS qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

Having worked in general practice, Amanda moved to Australia, where she was the Senior Dentist for the School Dental Service in Far North Queensland, as well as part of the Royal Flying Doctor team, providing dental treatment in some of the remotest part of the country. She also worked in private practice, but decided to return closer to home after 4 years overseas.

Amanda has continued her work in general practice, and joined Queensway team in 2011. She then went on to complete her post graduate diploma in conscious sedation and is able to provide the highest standard of sedation techniques to help nervous patients overcome their dental fears.

Amanda is dedicated to continuing professional development and is currently completing the final year of her master’s degree in Endodontology.

What do you enjoy most about working for Queensway?

The multidisciplinary team approach to dental care, and the fact the practice supports me in training and development to provide the best possible dental care for my patients.

Training and awards;

Where would a patient usually find you in the practice?

In my surgery in the Crown building.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Helping an anxious patient cope with something they never thought they could, and them telling me it was so much easier than they ever thought possible.

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

I have a busy life with 2 children, a dog and a cat. I coach the junior section of my local harriers, and try to exercise at least 3 times a week, preferring running outside to the gym, no matter what the weather.`

What makes you smile?

A nice cup of tea.
