Can whitening help with white spots on my teeth?
The reason for white spots forming on the teeth is often the onset of caries. Dental fluorosis too can be a reason for the visual damage. Whiteish discolorations are sometimes evident when orthodontic appliance (usually fixed brackets) are removed. The good news is that there is a simple, gentle treatment option with no drilling required.
How does it work?
After preparation with etching gel, a liquid resin (known as icon) is applied and infiltrates the porous dental tissue. The icon infiltrant is then cured with light. Because the treated tooth reflects the light, like the healthy tooth enamel, the treated area visually matches the healthy tooth.
There is usually only one treatment appointment required so it’s a really quick, efficient and gentle treatment.
Depending on the patients age, for the best result your clinician may also recommend a course of tooth whitening for the best possible results.
